Thursday evening saw a few of us from work rafting at Home Pierrepont.
We had a great time, both in the raft and in the river. This was my fourth time at the National Water Sports Centre and up to now I had avoided the the notorious 'Trent Belly' sometimes known as the 'Trent Trots'. I am afraid that this time I have not been so fortunate despite the obligatory bottle of coke.
Won't put me off though, anyone up for rafting?

We spent the weekend in Halifax. Having been to Halifax for work and to Eurka and then through Halifax on the way to Slack top, which for thoose who wonder is just up the road from Slack Bottom, we decided we should visit Halifax to have a better look around.
We travelled up on the Saturday for the weekend.
On the way in to Halifax we stopped at Shibden Hall, where we went for a walk, did a cahche and had an excellent Lunch in the Cafe. The only downside was the rain which was of the wet variety.
In the afternoon we went into Halifax and had a walk around the town centre and into the Piece Hall, which is quite impressive. The Piece Hall was filled with stalls for a Healthy Halifax weekend. I did feel sorry for the organisers as now the rain was more of the soaking variety. Healthy Halifax also turned out to be a bit of an oxymoron for me as I instantly became I'll with what I think is a virus and thoat infection. Cold, wet Aching and shivery surley it could get no worse. Well it could little tip as hotels go the Travel Inn is not one of the best.
The next day two things had improved, we left the hotel and it had stopped raining infact it was positivly sunny. So after a hearty Mcbreakfast we did a couple of chaches in Halifax and took the kids to have their heads chopped off at the Halifax Gibbet (see slide show below).
Thanks to the large doses of Ibuporphen and paracetamol I now felt well enough to tackle the 403 steps of the Wainhouse Tower. At 253Ft high the views were great, if a little windy.
We finished the day off at Manor Heath Park and Jungle experience which was a good end to the weekend.

We spent a few days in a cottage just south of York. We had a fantastic time walking on the walls, visiting the Jorvick Centre and the National Railway Museum. We also went to Brimham Rocks and Eureka.
A great break.

Over Valentine weekend Darren took the children to London for a couple of days.
We walked along the Thames, went on the London Eye (in the snow), visited Camden Market and stayed in Camden. On the second day we all went to the Science Musesum.
Here are some photographs of our trip.
